Last week, we alerted you to a new feature that was close to hitting WhatsApp, and that it would allow messages to be marked as read without having to access the chat in question. But this function would not come alone; next to it, another option would land on the most used messaging app in the world, to allow users mute a chat, directly from its notification.
Now, as they have discovered in , the option to mute chats in WhatsApp from the notification is now available to all users, thanks to a new beta version of the application that has recently been released through Google Play.
How to silence WhatsApp chats without entering the app
Interestingly, the option to mute chats has begun to be available before the one to mark messages as read that we echoed at the end of last week. The feature in question has begun to be available in version 2.18.216 beta of the app, and as you can see in the image above, it consists of a button that will appear in the chat notification itself, and that will allow the user to stop receiving new notifications of that conversation in question.
Since point out that, for some reason, it will only be possible to silence the conversation when more than 51 messages have been received consecutively. In case the number of messages does not exceed this figure, the mute button will not appear in the notification.
In order to test this feature, you only need download the latest beta version of the application released through Google Play just a few hours ago. If you are not yet part of the WhatsApp beta program for Android, you can do so by following the steps that we collect in our tutorial.
