New Huawei P50 and P50 Pro: renewed design, great fluid screen and superlative cameras

The Huawei P50 and P50 Pro arrive with HarmonyOS 2.0 as an operating system, but they say goodbye to 5G.

The wait is finally over and the Chinese manufacturer Huawei has presented its new series of high-end terminals, the Huawei P50 and P50 Pro. The new flagships of the Chinese brand stand out for having a design very renewed compared to the previous generation, with highly fluid screens, and high-quality cameras.

Next, let's review each and every one of the news that bring us the new star terminals of the Chinese giant.

One of the main novelties shared by both the basic model and the “Pro” version is an innovative design with an eye-catching rear camera module in a circular format that we could already see in the Honor 50.

Focusing on the Huawei P50, this model has a 6.5-inch fully flat OLED display with Full HD + resolution of 2,770 x 1,224 pixels, a refresh rate of 90 Hz and a touch sampling rate of 300 Hz.

The engine chosen to move this terminal is none other than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, a high-end eight-core processor which, this time, lacks 5G connectivity. This chipset comes accompanied by 8 GB of RAM and two internal storage options 128 and 256 GB, both expandable by NM cards.

As is usual in Huawei franchise terminals, one of the highlights of the Huawei P50 is its photographic section. Thus, this terminal has a triple rear camera module where the protagonist is a 50 megapixel main sensor with focal aperture f / 1.8 and that is accompanied by a 13 megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor with focal aperture f / 2.2 and a 12 megapixel telephoto sensor with f / 3.4 focal aperture, OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), 5x optical zoom and 50x digital zoom.

The rear cameras of this terminal allow us record 4K videos with Slow Motion, they continue to bet on technology AIS (AI Image Stabilization) and incorporate a new image engine called XD Fusion Pro, which will allow us to combine several images to improve the final result.

As for its front camera, the Huawei P50 has a unique 13 megapixel sensor with f / 2.4 focal aperture for taking selfies and video calls.

As for the rest of the specifications, the Huawei P50 is equipped with a 4,100 mAh battery with 66W ultra-fast charge, but without wireless charging and has a very complete connectivity by having 4G, Dual SIM, Wifi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, GPS, on-screen fingerprint reader, IP68 certification against water and dust, USB-C 3.1 and stereo speakers. In this sense, what we miss is that neither model has a 3.5mm headphone jack.

How could it be otherwise, the Huawei P50 has the second version of the new operating system of the Chinese brand without Google services, HarmonyOS 2.0.
